What is Pedal Power?
Pedal Power is our bicycle donation program for community members requiring support. In these sessions, we repair pre-loved bicycles donated by the public and then give to people without the means to access safe and affordable transport.
We take pride in providing bicycles and accessories that best suit the needs of our recipients – from getting around town, to having fun at the park.
Who do we provide bicycles to?
Over the years, we have given bicycles to refugees and asylum seekers, people experiencing domestic violence, people with disability, international students, people on low incomes, essential workers, and youth refuges.
All our bicycles are checked by a professional bike mechanic before we donate them. We also include helmets, locks and lights so you can get riding immediately.
If you think you are eligible for a free bicycle through the Pedal Power program, please get in contact with us at thebicyclegarden@gmail.com. We encourage social workers to reach out to us on behalf of clients.
Our hours
Pedal Power is held on the first Tuesday of the month from 6pm to 9pm at the Sydney Park Cycling Centre in Alexandria.
How can I get involved?
Pedal Power could not run without volunteer support and donations.
Drop in to our workshop night to work on our Pedal Power bicycles or send us an email to find out more. Pedal Power is a great opportunity to learn bicycle mechanics while working towards a good cause. No prior mechanic skills are required and our friendly volunteers are on hand to support you.
If you would like to donate your bicycle to the Pedal Power program, please read our Donations webpage and get in contact with us.
